How much work do I have to do?
That depends on how much you would like to do yourself and how much you would like to have me do for you. You will need to gather the photos and any stories/memories. Other than that, all other work can be done by me. The basic things I will do is design a book with digital pictures and electronically submitted (ie email). Anything else – scanning, transcribing typed or handwritten words, even going through folders of digital pictures to choose some for you – can be added into your estimate.
Can’t I just do this myself?
Sure. Like most services in life you can do something similar yourself. You can choose to cook dinner yourself – or have someone cook and clean for you. You can choose to have someone renovate your bathroom – or read a do-it-yourself book and take on the task yourself. These are all choices we make. What I will do differently than anything out there is design a book just for YOU. I use design software to create the books – not templates. If you do decide to design a book yourself, I’m happy to point you in the direction of some do-it-yourself services.
How long will it take for me to get my book?
The design time will vary depending on how detailed and labour-intensive your project is. It will also vary based on the number of books in my design queue. This will be discussed when we have our consultation. An average would be about a month.
Can I order more than one copy of my book?
One hard cover (except for pocketbook novels, which are soft cover) is included in your original estimate. Any number of books can be added. Additional books can be ordered any time after the initial book is complete. You can decide months, or even years, down the road you want more.
Why would I want to order more than one copy of the same book?
These books make wonderful gifts. A book about a child, for example, could go to each set of grandparents, godparents, great-grandparents and so on. And of course, a copy for the child him or herself!
What if I decide a few months later – or even over a year later that I want more copies?
That’s no problem at all. Additional copies can be ordered at any time.
Will I get to see my book before it goes to print?
Included in your estimate, you will receive one working draft and a final draft of your book in PDF form to approve before it is sent for printing. (More drafts can be added as an a la carte service.)
