Why Beyond Memories?
Why is there a “special division” of yo’ books?
While I was in the development stages for yo’ books, I had two path altering experiences. In October 2009, my amazing uncle, Marty Baechler, lost his 9-year fight with cancer. I created “A Life Well-Lived” about him.
The other path-altering thing that happened was my mother’s early on-set Alzheimer’s diagnosis. While those of us close to her wondered if something was “off” for a while, to hear the diagnosis was numbing – for all involved. I journeyed through a wide-range of emotions, not the least of which was anger.
I had found a passion for creating books, so I channeled my emotions into these projects.
I knew I was on the right path. You know how you can just tell when something resonates with you? That you’ve found your life’s purpose?
I also knew these memory and memorial books were so special they needed their own space. That is why there is a special division of yo’ books. A special part that focuses on memorial books for our loved ones that have passed; and memory books for our loved ones that are still with us. These books allow us to do something at a time when we feel so, incredibly helpless. It is not only an amazing gift for the recipient. It is a cathartic journey for the contributors as well.
I am honoured that people let me be a part of this process. It truly is a gift.
